A friend of mine gave me some cooked black beans called “Kuromame”, which is one of the Osechi foods
My wife’s acquaintance gave us some homemade black beans that were made for Osechi food.
They were beautifully done, with good color and no wrinkles! They were soft and fluffy, and the flavor was very good.
Black beans have the meaning of living a healthy life. Also, black is considered to be the color to ward off bad spirits, so it is considered to be perfect for the New Year.
By the way, this plate is from one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, called Tanba-yaki or Tachikui-yaki, located in a neighboring town. It is a favorite of our family.
