If the udon noodles are really good, It's enough to simply pour a small amount of soy sauce over the boiled noodles. Udon is famous in the Sanuki region of Kagawa Prefecture. If you go there, you can eat authentic udon. You can buy udon at grocery stores, but the real udon is quite different from what they sell there. So it’s worth it to go to Kagawa to eat authentic udon. However, nowadays, there are restaurants specializing in udon in every area, so you don’t have to go to Kagawa to enjoy delicious authentic udon.
My wife and I have been to Kagawa before to eat authentic udon, so we know the best. The udon specialty restaurant in my neighborhood where I often go to eat is almost as good as theirs, so there is no need to go as far away to Kagawa.
